This Friday is going to be an extraordinary evening. The Loneliest Monk will be performing at Schubas with local group Conductive Alliance and Belgium act Soy Un Caballo. The dramatic duo will be rocking some new material from their much anticipated debut release, and for the first time the album will be available for pre-order (along with a free gift).
Don’t miss what The Metromix/Red Eye is calling one of the top 25 shows to see in Chicago!
“This year’s Rock ‘n’ Vote runners-up put on one of the city’s most unique live performances. A few words: Cello. Drums. Masks. Drama.” -Matt Pais
We recommend you pick up you’re tickets in advance. Click on the poster or click here to purchase tickets.

Ahh. Sure feels good outside in Chicago right now. And let me say, we deserve it! The nice weather isn’t the only thing to be excited about. The new self-titled All Things Lucid LP drops this summer, and we’ve decided to leak two of the tracks on their myspace, “Let It Begin” and “Antibiotics”. With May quickly moving behind us, we encourage you to gear up because June is going to kick some serious ass. June 2nd: Lucid presents at Pecha Kucha Night. June 13th: Get gritty at The Empty Bottle. June 30th: The boys have their debut Schubas appearence.
See ya around town.

We here at Kilo Records understand that this past winter in Chicago was, well long, brutal, frigid, and just straight up cold. So to help you shake off those memories of freezing your ass off while waiting for another late CTA bus, we give you THE WEEK. Pretentious? Yes, of course. THE WEEK shall be spiced, sliced, and diced up with design, music, and enough dancing room to go around. It’s a full course meal, so we hope you’re hungry:
- 4/4 - Michael Kostal will be taking part in the biggest annual design competition in Chicago, Cut&Paste. Doors start at 7PM tomorrow night at the Congress theater.
- 4/6 - The Loneliest Monk returns to the Whistler in Logan Square. An intimate evening with one the most talked about two piece bands in Chicago right now. Opening at 9PM for Brooklyn’s Asa Ransom. No Cover.
- 4/9 - All Things Lucid will be kicking some summer into you this Thursday at the Beat Kitchen. We say this a lot, but you really don’t want to miss this show. Opening at 9PM for Chicago’s own REGO. Pick up your tickets here.

Who says an album needs to drop all at once? Well not Michael Kostal. He’ll be releasing his follow up LP one song per month for all of 2009. That’s right, with each passing month you’ll be able to download the latest MP3, for free, from 2009.michaelkostal.com. We’ll be posting reminders along the way for those of you lacking short term memory. So head over to the site and download January’s release, 1824. We’ll then be releasing the full record in 2010 for your purchasing pleasure.
As you may or may not know, Michael is not only a talented musician, be he’s also a pronounced graphic designer. You can watch MK perform in a live design competion at the Congress Theater on Saturday, April 4 for the the Chicago Cut N’ Paste tournamant. You can learn more about that here.

We are very proud to release the latest and greatest online presence from All Things Lucid. It’s a complete makeover from <head> to <footer> and we think it turned out rather dandy (little nerd joke anyone? anyone?)… OK, aside from our lame attempt at humor, you really need to check it out. Not only is there a new website and mini sites for every album, but you can also download their new EP Don’t Put The Record On for absolutely free! Download, listen, and spread the word.
